TECHNICAL

The D1200R is driven by a BMW boxer 1200cc engine from the Roadster. The chassis are drilled from aluminium 7075. Due to the new suspension system a new cup shaped front wheel rim had to be designed.

For space reasons a braking system from Buell XB12 was installed even though the ABS system of the original BMW was maintained. The oscillating arms of the suspension are mounted on bushings however in a revision of the system it must be mounted on the ball joint which allow small misalignments in the assemble and the possibility for regulation of the rake angle.

The steering is composed of a telescopic tube which transmits the turning thanks to a torsion scissors. This telescopic tube passes through the front vertical arm and reaches the stub axle which supports the wheel by means of a folded plate.
